Baile Hill Farm is owned and run by Lauren and Steven Daugherty.
Lauren has known she wanted to be a professional in the equine industry from the time she was five and had to beg her parents to let her ride. They thought it would just be a phase that she would grow out of, but she had other plans. Lauren, a native of Concord, MA was lucky enough to have Arrowhead Farm a short bike ride away from her house and quickly turned into a barn rat spending any free second she could there. She joined Nashoba Valley Pony Club training under Betsy Reeves and graduated at the HB level.
In high school, Lauren was the captain of the Patriot IEA team competing at regionals and nationals each year. While attending Roanoke College, studying exercise science and psychology, Lauren interned and then worked at Healing Strides of VA, a PATH premier therapeutic and recreational riding center. She obtained her Advanced Level PATH Instructor Certification at Healing Strides and started the first integrated United States Pony Club Center with both therapeutic and recreational riders.
While in Virginia, Lauren bought “Copper”, an OTTB who she restarted and now competes. She and Copper spent multiple winters in Aiken, SC where she trained and worked for Jessica Halliday, and 5* event rider Ryan Wood. She moved back home to Massachusetts in 2016 to work full time for Jess and was with her when she purchased Baile Hill Farm. Lauren has also managed a large therapeutic riding program sourcing horses, training, teaching, and managing the day to day operations. Lauren has ridden with many upper level riders including, Naill Quirk, Lainey Johnson, Phillip Dutton, Sandy Webster, Booli Selmayr, Brian Russell, and Pinky Tuller. She also is a firm believer in working with all horses on ground work and has worked with Pat Parelli, Jodi Grimm, Dave Ellis, Carol Young among many others.
Lauren has worked with all different types of horses from FEI horses, to restarting many OTTB’s and rescues, and everything in between. She has a passion for teaching both horse rider and uses her extensive knowledge of biomechanics to help teach the basics which are the most important part to any training program. She loves helping horse and riders grow and gain confidence together.
